The face-to-face trainings offered by our team here at Benchmarks are designed to engage participants in a learning experience that will extend beyond the training room. Our in-person trainings are constructed to incorporate a variety of learning styles which research has also shown increases both retention and the potential for application among participants in the future. Our goal is to not only increase individuals’ working knowledge through education but to help agencies improve their practice. Therefore, each training is designed to include planning components to aid agencies and participants in translating the information learned into skills and practice. Adult Learning Principles
This 90-minute Adult Learning Principles course, that may be delivered face-to-face or virtually, will equip facilitators to understand motivations, foster lifelong learning, encourage autonomy, and respect experience. Participants will learn how to grasp various motivations of adult learners, craft engaging, balanced trainings, apply the “Cone of Learning”, adapt to different learning styles and gain best practices for online and in-person training.
Child Welfare: Decisions of Magnitude
The “Child Welfare: Decisions of Magnitude” training program is introduced as a transformative initiative for professionals in the child welfare sector. It emphasizes the profound impact that decisions in this field can have on vulnerable children and families. The program’s objective is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed and compassionate choices. The training explores the intricacies of child welfare, delving into the historical context and critical factors that shape the field. It encourages reflection on challenges and complexities inherent in child welfare, with the ultimate goal of empowering professionals to contribute to a brighter future for those in need. The program invites individuals to join a journey towards creating a more compassionate and caring world through decisions of magnitude.
Community Resilience Model (CRM)
This curriculum, developed by the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI), focuses on educating individuals on the biology of toxic stress, trauma, and resilience. The training introduces the concepts of trauma and resiliency through teaching a set of six wellness skills. The skills participants are taught in this training can be used to name and manage symptoms of distress as well as encourage well-being within themselves and others. Research has found these skills to improve self-reported well-being and symptoms of distress in individuals who use them regularly. The training is designed to vary in length depending on agency needs. Trainings vary from a 1-hour to a 2-day workshop.
Cultural Competency & Diversity Training
This training helps people be more aware of workplace diversity issues, such as those affecting underrepresented groups, in their daily interactions, explore and challenge their own beliefs and unconscious biases about diversity and acknowledge discrimination.
Person-Centered Thinking: A 12-hour training
The National Learning Community Curriculum
Service definitions continue to require providers to participate in 12-hour training programs on Person-Centered Thinking. The 12-hour training approved by the National Learning Community for Person Centered Practice must be provided by an approved trainer. This training meets those requirements and much more.
Supportive Supervision
This Supportive Supervision workshop is a four-part series designed to be incorporated as part of an agency’s trauma informed continuum. The workshop combines supportive supervision techniques with trauma informed knowledge and practices. The goal of this training is to assist agency leadership in ensuring supervision at their agency is a place where staff feel comfortable: being vulnerable, sharing information and feedback, and learning new skills. The result of supportive supervision is often greater staff satisfaction, improved agency atmosphere and culture, and increased staff retention.
Trauma & Resilience Training
This trauma training was designed to support staff at varying levels within an agency gain greater awareness of trauma and resiliency informed practices. The goal of this training is to improve participants understanding of trauma, ability to name its impacts, and ability to modify approaches and interactions with clients to encourage resilience. Implementing trauma and resiliency informed trainings have been associated with greater customer satisfaction, improved outcomes, and increased staff confidence in client interactions.
